Last weigh in

This weekend we hit the road…across the Nullarbor we will go. Planning on 3 long days of driving to get us across and into places we haven’t travelled.  Bring it on ☺️

We are 95% packed. I’ve a few things ready in the house to go pack into vehicle. Doctor visit tomorrow to get my thyroid meds and some painkillers just in case knee plays up.

Then it’s wait till Shawn and Skye get home. Thursday he pulls out of Shark Bay, and will be calling into Kalbarri to go do some crabbing if he can. A lot of rain there so whether he will be able to without getting bogged…who knows.

Anyway, last weigh yesterday, 400g down. Hopefully I don’t have anymore days like today where I’ve eaten way way too much.

Feeling very emotional. One of Kylee’s good friends lost her dear little boy in an accidental drowning. They are a beautiful family and are feeling for them all.

Also today I was given some of my cousins ashes to take with us, so on the way home in August we can stop at his, and our, favourite fishing spot and sprinkle them into the water. I’m also placing a plaque up there too in memory of him. Heck I miss that man.

Right…I’ll be back eventually.

Don’t think I’ll be posting whilst on the road. I might just so I can record some favourite places…but we’ll see.

Bad weather

The last few weeks we have had some awful weather on and off. Huge storm on Saturday night where Bunbury, which is 20k’s from my location, had ANOTHER tornado. Just a few weeks ago in Bunbury during another storm they had one form and wreck havoc. Scary thing was that first tornado William was meant to be training for Country Week trials in Soccer. Coaches canceled the training due to lightning being forecast. That tornado went across the pitch where they would have been training.

Anyways we been lucky here, no damage, a few branches off trees is all.

This is a pic that someone took of the tornado. They are scary, I know as 6 years ago in the middle of the night we had a tornado that went through 200 hundreds meters from our house. The noise it made woke us up. It was a sound I can tell you I never want to hear again, so eerie. Hubby and I hid in our walk in robe, the safest place with no windows. Next morning our yard was covered with debri, twisted off branches, guttering from houses, roofing, just so much debris. Quite a few houses destroyed including our neighbours at the back of us 300 metres away.

Anyways, weather has cleared up a bit today but more bad weather due Wednesday night/Thursday morning.

In under 2 weeks we hit the road, can’t wait. I’m mostly packed and ready to roll. One of my friends in NSW is our first stop, so excited to see her.

Right, work in morning, early start to I’m out of here.

Baby sat this munchkin today while mummy worked for a few hours. We had a great day. William was at his best friends, it was his friends birthday today.

Ohhhh, weigh in today, 400 gram gone, I’m finally back to my lowest weight from 5 or 6 weeks ago.

Another week down..

Another week down and an another week closer to our trekking across the Nullarbor. 600g lost this week….and only 2 more weigh ins to go. I’m 400g off my lowest weight which was 5 weeks ago. Soooooo maybe I’ll get lower than that before I go…But I don’t think I’ll reach my 20 kilo off. I may, if I really give it a go..but to be honest I’m not going to push myself to the extreme.

That’s it for this week….short and sweet. Only for my record anyway.

Another week gone..

Thankfully I’ve had a better week this week. Just about 100% on track.

The scales showed a sts, and considering I never weighed in last week after my horror week I am happy 😊

My jabberbuddy will be back from holidays tonight so we’ll be back to walking on Wednesday. That will help me as I’ve been very lazy since Deb went away.

The kids both played soccer on Saturday. Both teams won. Summer is improving weekly, running a lot more now.
William, wow what a game he played. Every now and then he throws in a blinder of a game and Saturday was one of them.
He’s trying out for under 11’s Countryweek team. Going to be a tough decision for the coaches as there 35 boys training and they all as keen as William. He has another few weeks of training yet then it’ll be fingers crossed. William is hoping to be in the squad but says it won’t matter if he’s not because he’s loving the experience of trials to get there.

Nothing much going on.
Counting downs the weeks before we hit the road, but before we go Shawn and Skye are having 2 weeks away. As soon as they are back we will hit the road.

Lunches to pack, till next week.

Weigh in day tomorrow…

But I’m not weighing in tomorrow. It will be a big fat gain.

Every time I set myself a goal I fail. I’m not going to set a weight loss goal again. My goal was to get to my 20 kilo loss before we take off trekking. Don’t know why but if I set goals I self sabotage myself. EVERY SINGLE BLOODY TIME!!!

I’ve just gone on an all out binge and literally gorged myself with everything and anything.

Hasn’t helped that my daughter had to call me and hubby down to hers to get the kids. Her boyfriend over indulged with alcohol and got abusive scaring the kids. She asked him to pack up his shit and leave. He was refusing too until Hubby arrived.

Anyways that’s not the point…I’d started the binging before all the above went down. Apparently they had a big argument last week and K told him it was his last chance. He didn’t like the fact that she and her best friend of over 25 years were not including him in some plans they were making. He had been drinking heavy.

I liked him, but I was concerned about his drinking. He came around home one day at lunch time and had a can in his hand. Apparently when he moved in with her how much he drank became obvious as his mood changed.

Anyways he left last night, and his mum bought him back to pick up his gear this morning. As K told him in front of her Dad, her kids come first and no way should they be made to feel scared in their own house.

My girl does not seem to have much luck with men. I hope one day she does find some forever lasting love

Mother’s Day today.

I miss these Mum’s, my mum and my mother in law so much. I think the older I get the more I miss them…more so my mum.

Love them so. xx

Another week gone.

Days are passing by quickly. It’s so dark in the mornings now and we’ve had to push our walk in the morning to 7.30am so it’s light enough. And it’s dark earlier too….my chooks are looking to be put to bed earlier too. I can feel winter creeping in, mornings and nights are a lot cooler…won’t be too long and we’ll be lighting our fire 🔥

Thankfully we’ll be trekking by the middle of next month and we in the northern hemisphere of Australia so will miss the cold and miserable weather we get here in the south in winter.

No change on my scales this week. A stay the same. I’ll have to try harder this week. My tracking was a bit of a hit and miss last week so I’m not surprised by the sts. WW is so easy to do, and I love that nothing is off limits. BUT you do have to be accountable, that’s why I use the app on WW and track honestly. If I indulge at one meal I can always have a lower “point” meal next time so I stay within my point range. If you cheat on your points you’re only cheating yourself and WW won’t work. I exercise most days, always at least 5 times a week and always in the morning. I find it sets me up for a good day.

My weekend was busy. Both little grandies had soccer Saturday, Summers team lost, and Williams won.

On Sunday we went to Perth to the Fire Fighters Memorial Grove to a memorial service to honour fallen firefighters. A dearly loved cousin of mine tragically died early last year whilst fire fighting and I was honoured to see his name being placed on honour roll to commemorate his bravery.

I’ll leave you with my cat enjoying the sunshine. Dare say it won’t be long and she’ll be curled up on the mat by our fire inside.

Went backward..

Had a bit of a bumpy week … was craving and constantly hungry. I gained 700g. It could have and should have been a lot more. Think it’s me being a lot more active saved me.

Been doing a lot of list making and prepping for our trip away. I know it’s 6 weeks plus away yet…but we are going to be away 2 months so I want to be totally organised. We travel self contained with a canopy on the back of our dual cab Toyota 4x4. It is comfy, the bed up top is as comfy as my own bed, it has a hot shower…. so really it is house on wheels. If we stop at a place for any length of time we have a wrap around canopy so yeah it’s a home away from home. It doesn’t suit everyone but it suits us.

Not much been happening, it’s been a quiet week.

The soccer games started on Saturday, Miss Summer played in the morning. A completely new team from last year but she fitted right in.

They won their first game 6 goals to 0

William played in the afternoon, he’s in the same team has last year but a few have left and they have new players. They jelled very quickly and also won their game 8 goals to 0. William played defence and has the game was more down in their half he didn’t have much running to do.

Right….dinner prep to start.

Still going strong.

I’ve had such a hectic week. One of the cleaners where I work sliced open her finger and was given a week off work. Myself and another cleaner are on pensions so can’t work any more hours than we already are, so I called my daughter and her boyfriend in to time share the hours. Kylee was already working some hours for us so knew the day shifts but I had to train them both up on opening and closing. Phewwww worked out to be a lot of hours and I was foot sore and very weary. 😩

I missed 3 walks with my jabberbuddy but I think I more than made up with it training Jason and Kylee. I think I missed the motivational talks we give each other, our daily planning, sharing recipes and just the chits chats….we both love our walks and talks. It’s great to have a friend that we can just de-stress with.

On Saturday morning I headed down to Manjimup.

It was the 100th year of my Mothers family settling on their farm.  My Mum is the standing in the back row behind her Mum.  (They are all deceased)   My Uncle Franks son and his son are living and working the farm now.

This is all my 1st cousins with my Aunty Yvonne, she is my Uncle Franks wife and the last of that generation. Even our group of 1st cousins has been depleted with a few of them deceased.

This my family group that made the reunion.  Brother in law, my sister Pauline, me, my brother Rodney, son Simon and nephew Stephen.

My eldest and me. Love this pic 🥰🥰
This is a group shot of us all.

I took these two down. They both had a ball playing with all their cousins.

Right time to organise myself for tomorrow.
Work in the morning, the coffee with one of my nieces.

Ohh I lost 800g ….. very unexcepted too I must add but very welcome.  I’ve set another goal. Mid June hubby and I are off trekking again. We are heading across the Nullarbor, into NSW to visit friends there then will be crisscrossing our way from there up to Queensland, and then into the Northern Territory before heading down the coastline to our little part we call home in Western Australia. Anyways my goal is to have lost more than 20 kilo’s before then. I’ve now lost over 17 kilo's so it should not be too hard. Got 8 weeks to do it 😘😘

Another loss…

So proud of myself…I’ve stuck to my plan and achieved my goal. I seemed to have stopped the yo-yoing and since March 11th I have had a loss each week. I’ve been doing WW for 16 months and have lost over 16 kilos now. Considering all that’s happened in that time and all the emotional upheavals I’ve had I’m happy I’ve stuck to it. I’m heading towards 20 kilos off next and I’m hoping to achieve that by mid June as hubby and I are off trekking again. This time we are heading across to the other side of Australia…..specifically Queensland.

Another week.

…and another loss. This week 400g

Nothing exciting happening, been a quiet week. Been jabberwalking most days, 40 to 50 minutes, 5 days this last week.

Ohh William had a session at the University, a program for his Children’s University. He loved it, and I enjoyed it too. I took him as Mum was busy packing up for them all to camping the next morning.

Mum, Jason and the 3 kids all got away early Friday, all unpacked and set up at Sandy Point by 10.30.

They having a wonderful time.

Easter Long Weekend

It’s been a lovely long weekend.

But before we start on long weekend we had a special birthday earlier in the week. Our little Miss Summer turned 6years old. My gift to her was picking her up after school and taking her to jewellers to buy “big girl” earrings.

Now the weekend.

Friday was just hubby and I, we had a very relaxing and somewhat lazy day. Cooked crayfish for dinner, that went down a treat. Saturday some gardening and then went to Farmers market for a few vegetables.

Sunday was Easter egg hunt. Kylee and the kids came with 1 extra as Kylee’s Jason had his son down for the school holidays. I hid all the eggs for the Easter hunt…but this bad Nanny forgot to take pics, I was so busy watching them. But I did get this pic from my granddaughter….our gorgeous Jazarah on her Easter egg hunt…

That evening it was Paul’s partners 50th birthday. She hasn’t had a lot to do with us these past few years so it was lovely to receive an invite. It turned out to be quite a pleasant night and we caught up with a some friends we haven’t seen in a while. It was a 70’s theme party, but we didn’t dress up…but there was some great dress ups there. I didn’t take any pics except for the cake.

Tanya loved it….and I can tell you it was very tasty.

My niece took this lovely pic of Ted and I.

All long weekend I kept to my WW points, didn’t not over indulge at all. Had no Easter Eggs or hot cross buns until today after my weigh in.

Result….500g down and I’ve managed to get under my pre Christmas weight. So I achieved the goal I set myself. Now it’s onwards to my next goal of 20 kilo’s down which is under 5 kilo’s to go. No time frame limit…just aiming for a loss every week this month 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Time to start dinner prep. Till next time …

Champion Boy

Wednesday and Thursday were  my grandkids sports day. William loves sports day and the challenges.

Wednesday was long distance running events and jumps day. Mum had to work but Jason and I went up and watched as well as help out the teachers.

William did great and won his long distance race, the long jump, vortex throw, high jump and came 2nd in hop, skip and jump. His sportsmanship is outstanding, no matter who’s team or faction he was there encouraging ☺️

Friday was sprints and team games. Summer loved that, she was in a few events but loved the social chit chat ☺️😘. William won his sprints easily.  Unfortunately his main competitor had an allergic reaction on Thursday and was unable to compete.

He was team leader in team games and shouted out encouragement to each and every team mate.

Kylee had the day off  and had to keep yelling out to Summer. “Summer focus”

Anyways to cut a long story short. It was a warm day, I got wind burnt, it was quite a windy day.

I didn’t buy from the sausage sizzle or the cake stall. I bought my own packed lunch.  I stayed within my points allowance.

The kids faction won the championship points and William was year 5 champion boy.

Another great week to add to my personal challenge, this being week 2 and a loss of 900g

My jabberwalk buddy is away for a few days so no long walks….but I have made myself move and clock up some steps.

Bedtime for me, my work day tomorrow so best get some sleep.

Monday, March 18, 2024

A busy week ahead..

First week of my challenge to myself is done and dusted. I lost 600 grams and I’m pleased to say it was easy. I ate 3 healthy meals a deal making sure they were filling and within my points. A few challenges but I aced them….go me 👍🏻👍🏻

Skye went and got herself a bank loan a month or so ago as she wanted a 4 wheel drive. Anyways she found one within her price range and has bought it.

It’s a big commitment, she has this loan to pay back, she took that out over 5 years. There’s licensing, insurance, fuel, maintenance and  all her other things like board, phone, clothes…… But she thinks she can do it. She working 2 jobs and has just been made permanent at her 2nd one.

I had my 2 youngest grandies on Friday night and Saturday. Young man was no problem but ohh lil Miss nearly 6 is a handful at times, especially bedtime. Never used to be but lately Mum has been pulling her hair out with her….and I can tell you my patience was running out Friday night !!

Saturday morning fun and games. Miss turned into my hairdresser….lots of giggles. 🤭

I’ve work in the morning. Then shopping.
Wednesday is part 1 of the kids sports day…..long distance running, high jump, long jump, hop step annd jump and vortex throwing. and I’m going to watch William compete. Last year he got 1st in all these events.
Thursday, morning tea with some work mates.
Friday part 2 of sports day. All the sprints and team games. Then I’m driving them to Mandurah where there Dad will pick them up and have them for the weekend.
Mum is having a weekend away with her boyfriend, they going camping with her brother.

Right…good night.

Weeks are rolling by….

 Just a short post.

Not a great deal happening. Spent the weekend down in Manjimup with my sister. Throw in a night of speedway action and it was a guaranteed good weekend. Just what I needed.

So with a few drinks, some yummy food, lots of talking, a night of speedway and catching up with some friends it was a much needed relaxing weekend.

Arrived home refreshed.

Monday morning weigh in saw a 300g drop on the demon scales.

I am setting myself a goal, the last few months my scales have yo-yo’ed up and down a few kilo’s, so I am giving myself a month to get down to my last set goal of 15 kilo off. That was before Christmas I achieved that. I’m under 2 kilo’s away from it but I so desperately want to get back there….so I can keep moving downwards again. A few challenges in the weeks ahead but I’ve proved this weekend I can go enjoy myself and not go overboard.

 Catch ya next time around.

Battling on….

Weigh in day…..yes I did weigh in. Despite being on track I am still a kilo off weigh in on the 19/2/24 (my birthday week)

This week is going to be a challenge, I’ve got a bit on. Lunch out twice this week, plus a weekend away. Yay….its sister weekend. Looking forward to that….and a speedway night… 🚗 🚙

This past week I’ve done quite a bit of spring cleaning and culled a lot of unnecessary “stuff”   I cleaned out my bookshelves  and books that the grandies no longer read or want were passed onto a local daycare. Books my own kids used as reference books for school projects were given to school to cut up and use for their “projects” Books that I was able to be parted with were given to Coles to put on their Telethon stand to sell. I must admit my bookshelf does look a lot tidier.

A dear friend from Victoria came over to Perth with her hubby, he had work here. She hired a car and drove down and spent half the day with me while her hubby worked. I was so happy to see her, it’s been a few years since I last saw her. We went walking along the beach and my phone (which I thought I’d left in the car) fell out of my pocket. Long story cut short….when I realised I had lost it and no one had found it I went and reported it and was in process of cancelling my bank cards when Helen decided to ring it again and it was answered. Pheeeeeewwwwwwwww     It was found in the water and luckily cover protected it…😘😘😘

Helen got to see a few places in Bunbury that she didn’t expect to see 🤩🤩

Derailed….

First up….weigh in day tomorrow….it is NOT going to happen.

I’ve totally derailed myself. I’ve eaten like it’s going out of fashion….all junk mostly…..and chocolate 🍫

Although in saying that Tuesday was my birthday and I was taken out for the most beautiful meal in a very upscale restaurant for lunch by my daughter.

From there it went downhill.
Stress didn’t help.
On Friday son was sent home from work, his hand was all swollen. Got him into Drs, it’s an infection, antibiotics prescribed, blood tests and X-ray were done. Saturday and Sunday the hand and the fingers are very swollen, twice the size as Friday. Back to Drs and he shakes his head and sends him to emergency at the hospital. It’s an abscess they say, start him fasting as he may have surgery. Pump with intravenous antibiotics. He waits and waits and Surgeon there says I’m not a hand surgeon I’m not touching it and proceeded to book him into a Perth hospital . Sent home, have a feed, start fasting at 11pm and be at hospital by 8am where day surgery will be done.
Luckily hubby and I were heading to Perth next day as friends of ours from LA were sailing into Fremantle port as a stopover on their world cruise.

Anyways we got son to hospital, a little late as traffic was horrendous…and we left an hour early too. Made sure he was in the right place and continued onto the port to see Joe and Marian. Had a wonderful visit, one we’d been looking forward to for over 6 months. Last time we saw them was May 2018 when we stayed at their lovely home as a stopover on our way to Alaska.
Anyways Shawn rang us after our visit and said no surgery today. Poor man all that fasting for nothing, and he’d be staying in overnight. Fingers crossed he’d be first up next day so we came home to prepare for another trip the next day.
Phone call from son next day, having surgery late afternoon, pick me up tomorrow.
He rings at 7.30, they discharging me, just have to get my discharge papers, Drs certificate and pick up my drugs…should be out by10.30. Yeahhhhhh right….we drove up there arriving by 10.30 and he never got out till nearly 1pm. None of us were very happy.
Anyways all done now.
So…..stress, takeaways and chocolate….ugggghhhhh
Tomorrow is Monday…..let’s see if I can climb onboard the WW train again…..

Monday, February 19, 2024

Hot 🥵

 Ohhhh boy, this weather….🥵🥵🥵

It’s been in the high 30’s and low 40’s and as humid as all heck….we have been melting. Thank god for air conditioning. Another hot and muggy one coming up.

Right…I have been asked, has my daughter got a new man?  After the shocking way she was dumped by Micheal (the last boyfriend of 4 years) she got her 4 wheel drive camping ready and concentrated on that and her kids. But anyways to cut a long story short she started chatting to a few men online. Jason and her clicked, they the same age, they went to the same school, live only a few k’s apart and had heaps in common. They met and are together. The kids love him, we like him so we will see what the future brings.

A few challenges ahead for them but let’s see what happens.

Weigh in day. 200g down. It’s a loss but I expected more after a great week. But it’s a new week now and a few challenges ahead. It’s birthday week. We’ve also got friends  from Los Angeles who are on a world cruise arriving in Perth this week and we are meeting them and having a catch up. We haven’t seen them since 2018 when we stayed with them on our visit to Los Angeles.

Anyways time to off….a few chores to get done before it gets too hot to get anything done.
Catch you next week.

Busy Day…

 A busy day today.

This morning general housework, a few loads of washing. Did some meal prep, dinner for tonight and some for the freezer. All done before 10.30 as my jabberbuddy was taking me out for an early birthday lunch. Deb flies to Bangkok for a holiday on Saturday 😊

Some op shopping was done then lunch. We both had chicken and salad with a small order of chips on the side to share between us, and it was lovely and quite filling.

Deb was the very first friend I made 30 years ago when we moved into the Estate we’re both living in. We’ve been walking together for over 20 years in between us raising kids, working and now looking after grandkids. Love her to bits.

Talking about kids, I had mine on Saturday as Kylee’s boyfriend had a birthday party…adults only. It was just a stinking hot day we spent a few hours up the pool.

Both of them love the water, Summer especially 😘

Right weigh in today, finalllllllyyyy after 3 weeks I had a loss. 500g that I’m determined not to gain again….heck it’s just too darn hard to lose.

I’ve not lost a real lot of weight between the 3 pics below, just over 3 kilos…but I can see a few changes between them all.

Anyways, time to do the dishes and organise a few things for morning. I have an early morning work shift.

Tuesday, February 06, 2024

A day late……

 …..but I’m here….

Thankfully the weather has cooled down a bit these last few days, it’s been very pleasant after the shocking high temps we’ve been having. BUT I saw on the weather forecast by the weekend we will be having extreme  heat again 🥵  Now that I’m not looking forward too…thank god we have air con and can sit in comfort. I have been catching up on my “to be read” collection of books as well as some scrapbooking.

Kids went back to school. William year 5 this year and Summer is year 1. She so excited that she finally in the “big school” 😍     Just where have those years gone.

So very grown up now. She loves that she is in the same area as her big brother.

Right now weigh in….a great week, not entirely a 100% on track but pretty good….and exercised 6 days of the week….and yet another sts. That’s 3 weeks in a row. Still a bit to go to get back to where I was just before Christmas….but I will get there.

Not giving in.

Right time to start preparing some dinner. Pork chops tonight.

Tuesday, January 30, 2024

A hard few days

Gee the weeks are flashing by…another week has flown by.

Been a bit of a topsy turvy week for me….and it showed on the scales…with luckily a sts for me. Could have been worse believe me. Still struggling a little but I’ll get there.

The other day it was the anniversary of my cousins death. He died doing his job protecting the community he loved. His workmates in the Shire, DFES, and the Volunteer Fire Brigade all turned up to honour Rays memory with his wife and her family at the site where he lost his life.

Ray and I were very close and I really miss him.
